Born in 1935 in Wuxi in Jiangsu Province，Pang Bangben learned painting from his grandmother, who had studied in Japan. In 1951, Pang joined the army and began his career as a painter. Later he served as art worker, teacher, fine arts editor, director of the editorial office, assistant to the editor-in-chief and senior art editor of the China Fine Arts Publishing House.
Pang, a member of Wang Jialian Oil Painting Scholarship Appraisal Committee of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and member of the Chinese Artists’ Association was cited by “Collection Reference News” as one of “200 Chinese Artists Whose Paintings Are Worth Collection in the 20th Century”. His works have been displayed in national fine arts exhibitions, commemorative fine arts exhibitions, as well as Beijing municipal fine arts and joint exhibitions, attracting great attention from domestic and foreign collectors.
